Well it’s that time of the year again! It’s December and with it comes the joys of Christmas. The gifts
under the Christmas tree, the Turkey dinners with family and friends, the aroma of Gingerbread baking, carols chiming, the twinkling fairy lights, snow in the yard, the Santa hats and stockings, the shouts of Merry Christmas and last but not the least the excitement and the contagious festive spirit it brings with it.
Brownies being a universal favourite, I have baked these chewy, chocolaty, fudgy, spicy brownies and jazzed them up with a white chocolate ganache and sprinkles to give a festive Christmas tree look. This Christmassy dessert is not only delicious but easy to whip up and perfect to decorate together with your little ones ! Insert pop sticks into the brownie triangles to make handling easier for kids. You can use edible stripy candy cane sticks too which will give a more festive look .
Sending these festive and decorative brownies as an entry for the 124 th Foodie Monday Bloghop for the theme Christmas Recipes.

- Few Drops Green Colour
- 2 Tbsp Coloured Sprinkles
- Preheat the oven to 180 deg C and grease and line a 8 inch square asking pan.
- Sift the flour with the cinnamon and ginger and keep aside.
- Melt the chocolate and butter on a double boiler. Remove the pan once it's melted , add sugar and cocoa powder to it and stir .
- Once it's cool add the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition.
- Finally stir in the flour and spice mix and pour into the greased pan.
- Bake in 180 deg C for 25-30 minutes or till a toothpick inserted in centre comes out with little moist crumbs attached to it.Do not over bake .
- Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack . Once it's cooled completely cut them into equal sized triangles and insert the cake pop sticks or candy cane sticks from one side.
- For the ganache, heat the cream on low heat making sure not to simmer.Pour the cream into the chopped white chocolate and wait for 30 seconds.
- Mix well with a whisk till all the chocolate has melted. Add few drops of the green colouring and mix.
- Pour into a piping bag , cut a little from the tip of the disposable bag and pipe the glaze in a zigzag pattern starting from the top of the tree.
- Finally garnish with the coloured sprinkles and serve once the Chocolate frosting hardens.
Do not over bake the brownies. A Minute or two extra will turn the moist brownie into dry and tasteless one. So use the stated baking time as a guide only and test the brownies a few minutes before baking time. Insert a toothpick in the centre, these brownies are done when the toothpick comes out with a little batter or moist crumbs clinging to it.
