Date and Almond truffles
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. During Ramadan the Muslims fast for the whole month, from sunrise to sunset. Meals are served before sunrise called Suhoor and after sunset called Iftar and eaten with the family or local Community. Many Muslims break their fast by eating dates before their Iftar meal. Dates boast of a large number of vital nutrients and health benefits. They propel the insulin levels in the body and give an instant energy boost.
So decided to make these Almond, honey and date truffles which are power bites and to open the Iftar with for the much needed energy for the 44 th Foodie Monday Bloghop, with the theme being Ramadan Special.
Guilt free, dairy free, gluten free what more could anyone ask for? The ingredient list is also nutritious, healthy and short…Dates, Almonds, Honey, Dessicated Coconut and Sesame seeds. These bite sized sweet treat make a great dessert for all kinds of parties, teas, breakfasts or a late night snack. These no cook, all natural , easy to make truffles are delightful for children as well as adults.

 Guilt free, dairy free and Gluten free.

- 2 Cups dates Pitted Plump
- 2 Cups Almonds Toasted Slivered
- 2 - 3 Tbsps honey
- 1 tbsp rose water
- 1 Cup coconut Dessicated
- 1/2 Cup sesame seeds
- Set aside 1/2 Cup Coconut in a shallow bowl.
- Add all the ingredients in a food processor and blend till a smooth dough is formed, scraping the sides in between.
- Shape the mixture into balls with your hands.
- Roll the balls in the set aside Dessicated Coconut.
- Store in an airtight container.
Notes
- Plump dates are best for this recipe but if your dates are little on the drier side soak them in hot water for 30 minutes.
- Adjust the amount of honey according to the sweetness of the dates.

Nearly posted something similar Saswati as I’ve made this healthy snack for a friend. Love that you have added rose water to yours. I find these date balls or truffles an ideal thing to have to ward off hunger pangs.
