Deviled Eggs
Eggs are my absolute favourite food and I can have it poached, boiled, fried, or scrambled .One of the ways to eat an Egg that is a hot favourite in my household is Deviled Eggs. Boiled eggs are boring for my kids and Deviled are a hit with them either for breakfast or in their lunchbox. I serve them as appetiser for my parties and sometimes pack them for our beach picnics too.
Aside from the cholesterol question eggs are super health food and an inexpensive source of high quality protein ,vit B12, phosphorus and riboflavin. They are a good source of several minerals such as Iodine and Selenium which is difficult to find in other foods.
With the 36 th Foodie Monday Bloghop theme being Picnic recipes, the Deviled eggs were a perfect choice…. A creamy, zesty snack which is filling and easy to carry for picnics. There are different ways to make the filling for these eggs..with avocado, bacon, lobsters, fish, prawns etc. I have added some fresh celery to the filling with Tabasco sauce which makes it spicy and gives the right zing.
For making perfect boiled eggs I follow Martha Stewart’s recipe .
- 03 eggs hard boiled

- to taste Salt Pepper and

- Slice the boiled eggs into halves and scoop out the yolk part of the eggs into a bowl.
- Mash them up with a fork.
- Mix the mayo, mustard, Worcestershire,Tabasco, salt, pepper and celery to the mashed yolks.
- Pipe the mixture in swirls into the egg white scoops with a piping bag.

When my kids were younger I use to make deviled eggs for them often. Its so good to read a traditional recipe after a long time. Love those hen containers, they are very cute.
