Makar Sankranti or Pongal or Magh Bihu or Poush Sankranti or Lohri as known in different parts of our country is a harvest festival celebrated with much enthusiasm. It falls on 14th of January every year according to the Solar Calendar.People in different parts of India celebrate and welcome this festival in different ways by flying kites, lighting bonfires, taking a holy dip in the Ganges or by making delicacies from Sesame and Jaggery.
Maximum use of Sesame is during the Sankranti festival when people bathe in water containing Sesame seeds, light diyas in temples with Sesame oil, distribute sweets or tilgul made from Sesame seeds.
For the 126 th Foodie Monday Bloghop for the theme Sankranti recipes I have prepared these spicy and crunchy cottage cheese fingers coated with Sesame seeds . This recipe is a Sanjeev Kapoor recipe which I normally serve for my parties as starters and is a perfect vegetarian recipe to celebrate this auspicious festival.
